Effie Swanson has a background in research administration and research development at a land grant university. Prior to joining the team at UChicago, Effie worked as the program manager for a neuroscience research center at Kansas State University (K-State). In that role, she managed the grant writing program for junior faculty, coordinated the center’s overall research evaluation program, and assisted with center management. Effie also worked in the central research administration office at K-State (PreAward Services) as a grant specialist for seven years and wrote several large research center grant proposals for K-State faculty across various disciplines. She also has prior experience in the Kansas Medicaid program, where she helped to transition service delivery to a managed care model. Effie holds a Master of Public Service and Administration degree from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, and a BA in economics and political science from Washburn University.
